Out of just under 3000 entries I managed to snag a spot as a finalist in the BC Amateur Photographer of the Year Contest. There were 60 finalists and the second stage of the contest involved taking photos at the Abbotsford International Airshow last weekend. We received VIP access to the photo pit and on Sunday my family joined me at the show for free. It was a great experience!! I was shocked to even be picked as a finalist. I met many photographers with HUGE telephoto lenses in the photo pit. I don't normally shoot planes, birds, etc so I don't own any lenses that big or fancy. I made the most of it with what I had and just had fun! Each of us entered 10 photos into 4 different categories: Best in air photo, Best crowd photo, Best static photo and Best wildcard Photo.
Now we wait for the judges to decide the winner from each category and the overall winner of the whole contest. There is also a people's choice award. If you'd like to vote for me please click the link below and search "Shaw" in the search bar to see all of my entries. All votes are much appreciated!
